First week of 1st grade... In the books!

Well, y'all. We did it.

We survived our first week back at school. It feels like I was just writing this post last year about sending my baby off to Kindergarten!

This is the only sad part of this year. Quinn and her best friend Brooke aren't in the same class so recess and pickup are a big deal :) Bless their little hearts, they really do miss each other!

I have to be honest, I felt a little more "seasoned" this year being that I knew how everything was run, where to park, I actually knew moms and teachers and staff. I think of how much of a hot mess I must have looked last year, having just birthed what would turn into the spitfire we know today.

I will say Hazel had zero schedule last year, so pickup and drop off and naps were not an issue. This year? A baby with a real schedule, whose naps happen to always coincide with pickups is my biggest struggle. So far I've gotten to volunteer a recess and lunch duty (because who doesn't volunteer at school on their morning without kids?!) so I've already got to get a peek of her 1st grade goodness and I love it. I love watching her in her element, interacting with her friends and being a complete nut. Just like her mama.

I was sad that summer ended so quickly, but being that Quinn was so excited to go back made it a little less sad. I did great, got her dressed, took her pictures and we headed off to school. Not one tear from me until she opened the door and wearing her little jumper that aged her 5 years, spotted her kindergarten teacher in the drop off line and ran to give her a hug. Why you ask did this make me lose it?!

I have zero idea!

I think because a big part of me wishes she could do Kindergarten again and I loved her teacher so much that it just made me sad that she's only going to get bigger.

Someone fell asleep on the way to school!

But my goodness she is really entering the big kid phase of life. And I am loving it. You know the brushing her own teeth, occasionally taking her own shower (but lets be honest, its so much easier to throw them all in at once!), playing in real sports leagues. I feel like I'm really going to enjoy 6/7 and all that comes with it!

I am enjoying the cooler weather and right now I'm sitting with my pumpkin coffee while the babies nap and Quinny is playing outside while Anth finishes our last project before putting our house on the market....again. And I'm also working on a little side gig that I hope to get up and running soon and I'm really excited about it! So busy doesn't really begin to cover what life is going to be for the next 9 months, but I will take it one glass of wine at a time.

And to enjoy as many as these as I can!
