Your Three Words | I Heart NYC

I cannot believe that Sunday will mark the 10 year anniversary of 9/11/01.

I think everyone remembers where they were and how they felt the moment they found out what had happened. I was in Chemistry class in my junior year of high school. We all thought it was a joke, it looked like a scene from a movie.

My moms parents had been visiting from Peru and we had just put them on a plane back two days before. My grandfather had always wanted to visit NYC and see the twin towers and we had just taken him there to see them a couple weeks before.

So seeing it on tv was completely unreal. The days that followed were just filled with shock, disbelief and incredible sadness. It's weird to see all of the magazine covers with the kids from 9/11 and how grown they are! And I can't believe I was only 16 when it happened.

NYC is my all time favorite place in the world. I don't know what it is, but it amazes me. We are taking a trip there this December for a long weekend so needless to say, I am very excited! I haven't been there since 2008 for my bachelorette party!

I hope everyone has a great (and safe) weekend! The flooding around here is insane. This is about a 10 minute drive from my house, but thankfully we haven't been hit with any of the flooding!

  1. When I drove into work this morning, they were playing audio clips on the radio. It still brings chills and tears to my eyes hearing that. Definitely a day we won't forget!

Good luck with the flooding. Scary!

  2. It's super strange...I was in bed, first year university and my roommate had the radio on. We thought it was some weird joke, then everyone was running to the lounge to watch it on television, while I called my parents to tell them that I love them.

    Stay safe!
